When Michael first visited Japan in the 1980s, he was captivated by the simplicity of the Japanese-style kanna trim tool. Afterward, he spent years modifying and creating his own trimming tools to better meet his needs. These efforts led to the creation of this elegant, versatile pottery tool.

The sharpened kanna spade shape offers a precise cutting edge, ideal for detailing around the foot of tea bowls, bowls, and plates. The curled end incorporates all of Michael's favorite loop tool shapes, featuring both a broad surface for smoothing and a tighter shape for intricate trimming.
